Monopoly: Astérix Edition is a fun and carefully-made themed variant that pays tribute to the universe of the famous Goscinny and Uderzo comics. Originally released in France in 2019, this piece stands out for an absolute graphic redesign mimicking the humor of the original panels, also featuring a sought-after Spanish-language distribution that reached Spanish store shelves 2 years later.
Packaging format: Standard square box.
Distribution: Published under the official license of Les Éditions Albert René, developed by Hasbro Gaming. The initial rollout was planned to commemorate the franchise's official 60th anniversary, generating a gradual logistical trickle of copies localized for the international market.
Condition: Sealed.
Peculiarity of this edition: An absolute graphic redesign that erases any trace of the traditional Monopoly. The entire board and its components have been completely mimicked to match the panels and humor of the Goscinny and Uderzo comics.
Tokens: This edition includes 6 metal commemorative figures with excellent modeling. Instead of generic objects, they represent the village's most beloved characters: Astérix, Obélix carrying his menhir, the dog Idéfix, the chief Abraracourcix, the bard Assurancetourix with his lyre, and the charming Falbala.
Properties and Buildings: The traditional streets are transformed into iconic settings from the comics, such as Lutetia, Rome, or Cleopatra's Palace. To maintain coherence with the Gaulish setting, the classic houses and hotels are replaced by Huts and Inns.
Stations: The four train stations disappear completely, giving way to a tribute to the saga's culinary heritage. The board pays homage to our heroes' travels, including Melted Cheese (representing their accidental adventure in Astérix in Switzerland), Mussels (the signature dish of their trip to Astérix in Belgium), Salmon of the Picts (honoring their journey to the lands of Scotland), and, crowning the board's final corner, the mythical Roast Boar starring in the village's final feast.
Service Companies: The game introduces the saga's travel logistics, transforming them into two Transport Services companies: one Land and the other Maritime.
Game Cards: The Chance and Community Chest cards are completely adapted to Goscinny and Uderzo's panel humor. In this version, they become Magic Potion and Communal Cauldron cards, adapting all texts to the saga's misadventures and mishaps.
As this edition is preserved in its native state, Factory Sealed (sealed from the factory) under its original cellophane, archival and/or private images are used to show the interior.
